Falls - The facts30% of over 65s and 50% of over 85s fall at least once a yearEvery five hours, an older person dies as a result of a fall 40% of nursing home admissions are as a result of a fall 'Falls and the fear of falling takes away the quality of life, enjoyment and independence of older people' And 'We can do something about it' 'We don't have to change a lot, to make a difference' Falls Prevention ProjectA new health project is starting in Hastings, looking at the factors that can lead to older people falling over. The primary Care Trust is working with other groups in the town and we want YOU to get involved.We will be working in small teams, focusing on local action and we want members of the local community to join us. Small changes can make a big difference, E.G. using a night light or taking up a rug, we are sure you will have lots of ideas and we want to hear them! We also want to hear from anyone who would like to get involved in our local action group. As well as meeting people and helping other people in our communities, there wil be free trips to learning events, all expenses paid.
