Family Fun Bus Supporting Children and Families In the Community Play on The Family Fun Bus Children learn through play, which is very necessary for their developmewnt and growth. Unfortunately play can sometimes be restricted by busy and dangerous roads, limited outdoor space and concern that we all share for children in todays society. The Family Fun Bus provides an opportunity to overcome some of these difficulties. The Fun Bus offers excellent mobile play facilities, and regularly visits Hastings and the surrounding rural areas where there is a lack of play space. The project seeks to give new hope to children to enhance their social skills and to teach them about caring and sharing play. All these factors help to provide a positive influence and a sound base for their future lives. Help and Support on the Family Fun Bus The Family Fun Bus objectives were designed to cover more than opportunities for play. The Fun Bus set out to help parents/careers by giving them time for themselves. It is used as a friendly meeting place where our friendly team of staff and volunteers are able to offer a listening ear, suport, advice and encouragement. Equipment on The Family Fun Bus Both decks on the Family Fun Bus are cafefully designed to give opportunity for a wide variety of play activities. The lower floor is the messy area with painting easels, a sand and water tray and various items of play equipment. Special attention has been given to the needs of disabled children by providing an access ramp and stair lift to the upper decks. There are adjustable height working surfaces with electric points. There is also a toilet with a hand basin. The upper deck is carpeted and includes tea making facilities. Working in partnership with other agencies The Family Fun Bus activey seeks to work with other agencies where need is great and facilities are limited, and is at present a partner in the Sure Start areas at Ore Valley, Bexhill and Eastbourne. Together we aim to listen to your views and shape our service to meet local needs.
